Landed at Gando after eleven and the supplier was waiting in the car park with the paperwork already printed. Twenty minutes later we were on the GC-1 heading south.
Collected in Maspalomas on day four rather than at the airport, which saved three days of paying for a car that would have sat outside the apartment.
Took a small manual up the GC-60 through Fataga to Tejeda. Slow, steep and worth every hairpin. The engine held it on the way down without touching the brakes much.
Puerto de Mogan is built up the valley sides and the streets are tight, so I was glad we had asked for an automatic. Parking at the hotel was the thing that made the car worth keeping.
Debit card accepted with no drama, which the desks inside the terminal had told us was impossible. Nothing was held and nothing appeared on the statement afterwards.
We used the car for the north, not the city. Las Canteras and Vegueta are walkable; Arucas and Teror are not. The underground car park near Triana was the easy answer for the night.
Drove from the sunny south into cloud at Agaete and back out again in an hour. Fuel was noticeably cheaper than at home, which nobody had told us before we arrived.
